Ilya Komarov

Whilst having a gander through 'fuckyeahconceptart.tumblr.com', I happily stumbled on some of Ilya Komarov's work. (http://cgsketchbook.blogspot.com/) His style seems to range depending on the subject matter, from cartoony to quite detailed - the latter being what caught my attention.

These two pictures I specifically like, as they show individual characters (with a strong stance - illustrating their confidence.)- and feel that they may be of some use during my current brief, as they have a battered, smoky appearance which i quite like:

 - depicts a woman holding some form of robot head, the bronze armour giving it a 'steampunky' feel. The blocky nature of the armour doesn't destroy her feminine form - instead manages to enhance it.

 - This isn't as delicate - probably due to the masculine form and fact no real 'human' traits -e.g an exposed face or skin. I quite like the colours and industrial feel to this. As it seems to blend old imagery - such as armour - with more 'modern' technology.

This idea of mixing old with new (or futuristic) traits is also the line of thinking I am beginning to follow whilst collecting images for this brief.
